About

Welcome to the blog of Ken Hare, investigative reporter and former journalist for the historic Chicago Defender newspaper, whose groundbreaking stories paved the way for laws and policies being changed at the city, county, and state levels.

In the spirit of justice and humility, I aim to continue reporting on the important issues that matter most to everyday Chicagoans. Issues that for the most part, go largely underreported, if not completely ignored, due to the complex and oftentimes conflicting oaths, obligations, and secret dealings that tend to entangle public and private officials.

It’s a well-known fact that Chicago is one of the most vibrant cities in the US, with a world-renowned lakefront and enviable skyline; however, just beyond its glitzy downtown that continues to grow lies a city in virtual ruins south and west of the Loop.

One that consistently tops the national news as the “murder capital” of the country with more shootings and homicides in 2016 than New York and LA combined, according to the New York Post. And there’s a reason for that. A reason that you’ll never most likely hear about in the mainstream media – and there’s a reason for that, too as well.

Stay tuned as we work to bring you groundbreaking insights and astonishing revelations that speak to your heart and soul.
